Coaches on the Edge are young at heart. Laurie spotted with a parrot on her head.

Laurie: I actually wore a parrot hat to a Jimmy Buffet concert last week. Hey, it matched my tee shirt with green sequin palm trees on it. And yes, it was December. I can take solace in the fact that I wasn’t male with a hula skirt and coconut bra on – there were many versions of this stylist attire in Madison Square Garden. Of course I still felt foolish but I did it anyway. Laurie!
The majority of the folks screaming the words to “Margaritville” were baby boomers, and it occurred to me that we were all probably a little old to be acting so immature. But for a couple of hours, the years melted away and we were back on a sandy beach somewhere contemplating what career we could pursue that would require ocean waves and pina coladas. We really thought that some existed. Granted, Mr. Buffet has been on vacation all of his life but that is a rare, rare profession. Alas, most of us settled down to a standard job in the real world. Bummer.
elizabeth: You know, we got to make our own fun. Every day. You don’t think Jimmy works hard? His songs don’t show up cast in stone for him. He’s got to write them and then he has to travel a lot and that is work. Sleeping in a different room every night. Ahhh, but I digress.
I fail to see the reason why people do get old. What is the purpose of that? I plan on acting the age that works for me. When people say to me that we’re old, I just tell them that is their story and not mine. I really do get rather pissy when people do that. If they think misery loves company, well I won’t be staying for dinner. Let me get out there and experience life, put myself into new situations and never get bored. I plan on staying age defying just like my makeup although I must say they I am doing a better job!
Laurie: I think it should be mandatory that at least once a month we stop whatever serious earth-shattering thing we are doing and act as stupid as we possibly can. It’s good for the heart, it’s good for the soul, and it reminds people that you are slightly crazy. That’s always helpful. Family thinks twice before they ask you to do something responsible; bosses are afraid to leave important business in your hands; kids are terrified that you will embarrass them; and you can pull it out whenever you need an excuse or find yourself in a questionable situation. Wild and wacky – it’s not just for young people anymore!
elizabeth: Amen Sista. Someone said that youth was wasted on the young and they may have a point. I have loved (and hated) almost every age because I became more the person I am today, and for some that is a good thing. And for me that is the only thing. I will do my best to stay healthy and keep my mind excited and stimulated as I did when I was 15, 18, 23, 30, 40, 44 and as I do now.
If we are not excited or at least curious about what life has in store for us, why bother? I am going out of here kicking and screaming and voicing my opinion and shaking my hips to the rhythm that is my life. Care to dance?
