So Random...

You know those random columns that columnists (or ahem…bloggers) will sometimes post because they can’t seem to put 500 words together on a single subject that are interesting or coherent. Yeah, this is one of those blogs.

Please enjoy these little random blurbs from my life as of late…

We were watching the Disney Channel the other day (when aren’t we?) and my husband said, “Whatever happened to Hilary Duff?” Our lovely daughter replied, “Nobody cares about her anymore. She got old.” She’s 23! Fantastic!

You know those shirts with the angel wings on the back? Yesterday I was at the gym and saw a girl wearing yoga pants with angel wings on the butt. They looked kind of cute on her but I don’t think they’d work on me – I think my wingspan is much larger.

A couple of days ago my husband walked up to me and said, “Do you realize that your daughter is watching TV in our room and your son is watching TV in the den and they are both watching the same show?” Our son called from the couch, “We can’t agree on the volume.” And people wonder why I count the minutes until 5:00 every afternoon.

I went out with some girlfriends recently and was at dressed in my sexy best – my green top that hugs me in all the right places (and hides all the wrong ones), my killer necklace that my friend Lisa gave me that hit at the perfect spot in my cleavage, black boots and tight black jeans. I reached into my back pocket and found a piece of folded paper – forgotten money maybe? Nope, a list for Costco written on the back of a spelling flash card – yeah, that is so freaking sexy!

Just a note to the dude at the gym who wears sunglasses inside the gym at 5:30 in the morning – you know when there is still a sky full of stars and the sun hasn’t even thought about popping over the mountain to bring light into our day – that looks a hell of a lot more douche-y than cool.  I mean, there is no possible way you could have driven while wearing those so what the hell are they doing on your face?!  Oh, even if the sun were shining brightly in the sky it would still douche-y. I don’t care how late a night you had last night – take those freaking sunglasses off!

My husband and I were invited to a Halloween party but didn’t end up going. Bummer too – I had the perfect costume. I was going to dress as a cougar with inappropriately too-young clothes and he was going to dress as a college student. And speaking of a cougar in inappropriately young clothes, if you really want a good laugh, check out this hysterical video of cougar Barbie turning 50 that came out last year if you haven’t seen it. Trust me – so worth it!

And remember… “The person who knows how to laugh at himself will never cease to be amused.” – Shirley MacClaine
