Mr. Biggs in the City (A Book Review)

So I met this guy on Twitter. We have a lot in common. He’s married with two kids. I’m married with two kids. We’re both writers. We both live just outside of Los Angeles.

He asked me to review his book.

Hey… what kind of blog did you think this was?

My Twitter buddy Kevin Bloomfield has written and illustrated an adorable children’s book titled Mr. Biggs in the City.

Mr. Biggs in the City

It is the story of a Sasquatch who leaves his cozy cave in the forest to see what he can discover in the city. I won’t ruin the plot for you but I will tell you that Mr. Biggs gets himself into some pretty funny situations that include skateboarding, impersonating a police officer, and even wearing a tutu.

The illustrations in the book are detailed and hilarious.

I thought the book was adorable, but I’m the mother of a fourteen and eleven year old. What do I know? So I took the book to two kindergarten classes (at two different schools) and asked their teachers to read it to them. The kids in both classes loved it! They especially loved the artwork and enjoyed trying to find Mr. Biggs’ friend, the funny squirrel, on every page.

The thing I love most about the book is that the simple text is in both English and Spanish and has a Spanish/English translation glossary for 17 of the nouns used in the book. I think this helps spread the message that even if someone looks a lot different (you know, like a Sasquatch) or speaks a different language, inside we’re all looking for love and trying to have fun while finding out what we are good at.

This book is the PERFECT gift for children ages 2-7 (maybe even 8!)

Buy it here. (You'll be so glad you did!)

I'd love to connect with you! Follow me on Twitter @Rossgirl08 and connect with me on Facebook.
