Greetings!

Your brother’s bosses’ wife’s retirement party is a few weekends away. You’ve met a handful of times but aren’t chummy. Yikes! You find yourself in a local Hallmark store scanning the aisles. Minutes pass, maybe even an hour.

This is so frustrating. There’s nothing to choose from. There’s everything to choose from. Shouldn’t you just pick already? I mean, who cares? It’s a card. Nothing really pleases you. None of these messages feel quite right. Some of these cards are just corny or too sappy. Do you think she’d like the song card or would that scare her into an early grave? Better not. Maybe you should just buy that one that flatly reads, “Congrats! You’ve retired!” No, there has to be something better, even if you don’t really know this person all too well.

So, what do you have besides a headache from those god-awful fluorescent lights and strong scented candles? Nothing. You leave empty handed, frustrated only to search the grocery store for some more cards. It is just a card, after all.

Or is it? (Insert cheesy music here)

Card giving is about connecting with someone. It’s about acknowledging that person whether it’s because you feel like it or if they’ve graduated from school. It’s about watching the look on that person’s face after they’ve read your heartfelt message. It’s about taking the time to say something that maybe you’ve always wanted to but couldn’t find the words.

The simple act of giving a friend, a loved one or a new co-worker a card is truly special. I still have a few birthday cards from my late Papa, who scribbled “Papa G.” One of my best friends and kindred spirits got me a card that reads “All things change when we do. Congratulations on making life change.”

Which leads me to my next point: I am in the midst of creating change for myself, both professionally and personally. I am creating a greeting card company, health & wellnesses inspired, and want to know what do you want to see more of? Less of? What kind of card grabs your attention to the point of purchase? What do you pass by without a second glance? How much money is too much to spend on a card? Where do you go to buy cards? Do you buy more cards from a store or do you send e-cards? What’s your favorite style? Humor? Heartfelt? A little bit of everything?

My hope for this new company is that it promotes positive awareness and helps to foster relationships. What better way to contribute to the world by adding in more kindness, love and communication?

Thank you for your feedback. It is much appreciated!

Greetings!

I hate it when I find the

I hate it when I find the perfect card for say, my mom, only to open it up and have the inside say "Happy Birthday to a Great Aunt/Grandmother/Brother!" That drives me nuts. I also hate finding, mass produced cards that are $5 or more, for no special reason. I'm more likely to pay that price if its handmade or made of really specail materails, and maybe only then because I'm a card lover. My other college friends would not. I love humor, as well as the heartfelt. I tend to buy more humourous cards for males and people I don't know as wello r if I can't find an appropriate heartfelt card. I send ecards, mostly funny, but never as a card replacement. I also love to send and recieve cute and quirky postcards. Hope this helps.
