Look of the Day - Gap Fall Runway

Budget and Runway Chic - Who could ask more?

This look is from the Fall 2009 Gap Runway show and it is an amazing, budget conscious, chic look for fall.  There is nothing flash or extravagent about this look, yet it still looks polished and put together.

The one element that just makes this outfit for me is the shoe.  The pop of color, though subtle, ties everything together perfectly.  It would have been easy and expected to wear black shoes, but how boring would that be?   The sage green is not only seasonally appropriate it is heavy enough to be appropriate for fall, daily wear.

Also, as a general rule, I stay away from "matchy-matchy" outfits, the denim jeans with denim jacket.  That tends to be overpowering and just a fashion flop, but with this outfit it works.  The jacket being covered primarily by the black overcoat serves the same purpose as a scarf would, adding depth and texture to the torso along with the gold buttons for a hint of jewelry.

Black tends to be an overpowering color, and this outfit uses it well.  The jacket it heavy, so to balance it the only black on the lower half are the tights, a subtle hint through the peep toe.  If you are looking for a way to update your daily routine, try this trick.  Purple, blue, green and rust are great seasonal colors that will add the pop of color you're looking for.
