Up In The Morning And Off To School

I needed new hair to start the semester.  New look, new classes, right?

Monday night was Retirement Planning.  Wow I had no idea all the crazy stipulations Social Security involved!  Whenever I tell people I'm taking that class, the first comment is usually, "I need to go to that class."  The second is, "Why are you taking it?"  I would have been interested in it even if Personal Financial Planning (PFP) wasn't my major, but since it is, that's why I'm there.  I'm thinking it will be pretty interesting and for once I won't complain about 'how is this going to be useful' because once I finish school, it will be pretty handy.

Tuesday was a short day: Analysis.  Lucky for me I have this class with Prince Charming (sound the trumpets!).  That can be a double edged sword but I think in this situation, it will be fine.  Quality time and a study buddy all in one. I love the professor!  I had him last semester and for some reason he reminds me of my dad.

That brings us to today, Wednesday.  Taking 18 hours meant having 4 classes today.  How do I feel about today's classes?  Well....

  • Macroeconomics: it's going to be a LONG 50 minutes 3 times a week and this class is already making me nervous.
  • Intro to Old Testament: for the first time, I'm older than my teacher.  He's fresh out of college but maybe that means he won't be too hard since it's still fresh in his mind what school is like.  He earned bonus points with me when he said he's from the same small town my family is from.
  • Microcomputer Applications: slightly excited about this class even though I'll end up having homework coming out of my ears.  He said to plan on spending 6-9 HOURS a week working on assignments for just this class.  Lucky for him I type freakishly fast and like sitting in front of a computer for long periods at a time.
  • Family & Community: a little apprehensive about this one.  It's my first senior level class and I decided for it to be a psychology class.  I still haven't figured out why I need 6 hours of upper level psychology for a PFP degree but I guess someone thinks it's necessary.  This class will be a huge taker of time since we have to do a chapter summary for EVERY SINGLE CHAPTER!  Maybe I shouldn't have picked another senior level class to be my first?

Tomorrow is another short day, as is Friday.  I keep reminding myself that I can do this, I need to stay focused, and that I want to get into a good grad/law school possibly with a scholarship.  Hope everyone out in skirt! land is having a great week.

Happy Wednesday!
