Last Tuesday.

My husband called to tell me he would not be renewed next year. He's out of a job.

My girlfriend called to check in and casually joked, "wouldn't it be great if we all could take a road trip this summer?"

Trying to meet a deadline, my mind kept drifting off, imagining the summer days ahead...

The house would be filled with kids and husband.

I will need to pick up more hours and the kids will be begging to go to the beach.

My husband will be holed up in the office, trying to find a new position, in this highly competitive market.

I could already start feeling the stress.

I was dreading summer.

Friday.

I called my girlfriend and asked if she was willing to hop in a car, with our kids and shoot down I95 until we hit Florida? Before I finished the question, she said, "yes"!

In seven days.

My mini-van will be filled with two women and five kids. Together we will be aiming to create as much summer fun and adventure, despite the jobless situation and countless other life stresses on our horizons.
