Fear of the Vroom

Recently I realized another one of my fears. Even though the little list of personal fears I keep tucked in the back of my head isn’t  very long, this new one is almost up there with my fear of dogs. (I know I will have to explain my fear of dogs in depth one day, but that will take a whole blog entry and will probably promote a whole lot of laughter from you guys)

A friend of mine owns a Suzuki motorcyle, don’t ask me what specific kind, all I know is that it is blue and that it lights up really purty at night. tongue

kinda like this >>>>

He has asked me several times if I would like to take a ride with him on this motorcyle and my sure and immediate answer is always no!  The reason I can definitely say no is because I am totally horrified of riding on a motorcycle. Maybe it is just the way they tilt to the side when they turn or how they shoot through traffic or it may be the loud vroom vroom noise they generate, but me riding on a motorcycle is just out of the picture.

To be honest, when I am driving I avoid driving beside, in front of, behind or in any close proximity to motorcyles. It is almost as if I don’t want to be in their way when they decide to pop a wheelie or vroom and speed off. I want to be in safe footage away from them in case something goes wrong.

My friend has always promised that he won’t pop any wheelies or do anything else that may cause me to have a panic or heart attack, but I am still quite fearful of okaying the ride. Somehow within me I just know that I will get on that motorcycle with him and a wheelie will be popped and vroom we will be off and I will never be the same again. lol

...so as of today 10/16/2008 my answer to taking a ride on a purty motorcycle is still absolutely not!

I know some of you have ridden on motorcyles, some of you may even own a motorcycle, do you have any advice to help me with my fear of them? Are they as dangerous as they are purty? lol
