Virginia and Susan met nearly 20 years ago in the ideal feminist scenario – at a regional NOW conference. As “happily settled and devout Memphians,” they share a passionate commitment to investing in the betterment of their community. Virginia is the Assistant Director of the Memphis Child Advocacy Center and Susan is a private practice attorney who works in the gay and lesbian community and is also the president of Women of Achievement. The couple tied the knot in a surprise ceremony during a vacation to California in 2008. “We’ve never hidden who we are to each other or the outside world,” Susan says.
Susan: “I have such respect for her that continues to grow. She makes me proud over and over. We enjoy each other’s unconditional support.”
Virginia: “What attracted me to Susan from the get go, and to this day, is how smart she is. And when she gets really tickled, she has a laugh that’s just infectious!”
