Twitter?

I’m sure I’ve heard about Twitter within the past few months, but I can’t remember from where or who from. Maybe it was someone else’s conversation that I had overheard. But, as I cruised Craig’s List for potential part-time work and a GMAT tutor (bad mistake), I came across Twitter. There was an add for a tech writer and it read, “Interested in Google, Yahoo, Twitter, Facebook, etc....”  I’m familiar with three of the four, so I responded to the add and went on Twitter.

Is anyone else on this? If you are, please explain its purpose. I am not understanding why it exists or what I should be posting. But my sister told me there are “Twitter Awards”? I have no idea.

Have you recognized the abundance of Internet sites that mimic each other, yet become more difficult to manage as time goes on. Just because the computer geeks creating these web sites can write a code to alter their background to show the MonaLisa in a sailor hat humping a dog and add bedazzled words to make them seem fun, does not mean the rest of us are linked into this world. And once you’re on one site thinking I got this I’m gonna find what I’m looking for, a pop-up comes up that says you have to sign into another site! They all link you together and all of a sudden you’re stuck in a “web”. Ha, clever computer geeks.

On another note, I’ve decided that since I often lack topics to write about,I will turn to my trusty Dictionary for inspiration. CNN is not cutting it. I apologize in advance.

Therefore, the quote of the day, thanks to the word “paradox” and Wikipedia, is Oscar Wilde’s, “I can resist anything except temptation.”

Have a great night! ;)

Writing

Hey Olivia, I'd like to recommend a woman and one of her books that could help you on that "lack of topics to write about thingy." Julia Cameron. Julia is most known for her work, The Artist's Way. Everyone seems to rage about this book. I pray to never rage about what everyone else does, so, my recommendation is to read Julia's The Sound of Paper. Julia describes three creative techniques that are of immense help to both weathered and aspiring writers. Be strong. Dave Rothacker

I will definitely look into

I will definitely look into this. Thank you for the recommendation! I suppose there's a reason the term "writer's block" was invented! Liv

Twitter?

There are several

There are several skirt!setters on twitter- even Skirt! has a twitter ID! It's like short facebook status updates, so you can keep people posted throughout your day- there are even applications where you can post on twitter and it will simultaneuously update your facebook status. It's just fun. My twitter username is the same on here, so if you join, look me up and you can see all the other Skirt! people that are my friends and befriend them as well.

Thank you!

That's very helpful! Liv

did you join twitter?

I'm new to Twitter, but I love it! Great way for meeting new people, and for quick updates on what everyone is up to. Like status updates on Facebook ... but without all the green patches and other FB timewasters :) If you join, friend me, too ... my username is localshops1com Ester
