Frustrated with Math
By Aquarius83, Thursday, May 5, 2011, 1 commentsI was an English major in college for a reason. I choose words over numbers.
I am in the business world, however, where numbers and data have taken over my life. I run reports, analyze, and brief my team on what's going on. I enjoy analyzing the numbers. It's a puzzle; like a poem; that needs to be interpretted. What are the numbers saying to me?
But now I'm studying, barely, for the GMAT in August (YIKES!), and I am extremely frustrated.
I just don't understand why in this day in age I have to be tested on equations like 1/2 + 57/72 - 5 x 15z = WHY?!!?!?
We have calculators and Google and IPhone Apps to figure this stuff out. Isn't there another way to get into B-School without the GMAT?
I suppose I will just have to find the poem in fractions, and learn to love numbers as much as I love words.

Right there with ya...math
Right there with ya...math has always been my downfall. It stresses me out so much so that I can hear the beginning of a word problem and my hands start to sweat and my brain just goes numb. I feel your pain! Best of luck!!!
