Another Drug Store? Really?
By AngelaMoore, Tuesday, March 2, 2010A drug store replaced our Shakey's Pizza. We used to go there for pizza and mojo potatoes, and then let the kids play to their heart's content while my husband and I enjoyed each other's company.
A drug store replaced our Tower Records. We used to love to go there and explore the music, both old and new.
A drug store replaced our Fudruckers. We used to take the kids and let them order half-pound burgers even though we knew they'd only take a few bites, just because they thought it was so cool to order such a big burger.
A drugstore replaced our Blockbuster and Albertsons. We used to stop by and pick up a movie and some treats for a relaxing evening at home.
A drug store filled the parking lot down the street and blocked the mountains. I used to enjoy having my breath taken away by the majestic view as I drove down the street.
Is this what we want? A drugstore on every corner? This doesn't even include the pharmacies in almost every grocery store and multi-shopping stores as well.
The pendulum can only swing so far. I envision the moment we say "enough is enough!" The moment we take responsibility for our own health and well-being. The moment we decide we want places in our community where we can go with our loved ones and make memories.
