Hey, You, Get a Job!!!!!!!
By AmyD75, Monday, November 21, 2011, 1 commentsOver the past couple of months, I have re-vamped my resume and begun my search for a possible career change. Of course, that’s only if I decide to go back to work after the start of the year, which I’m leaning more towards NOT doing since the birth of my son at the end of September.
I’ve written before about the fact that I’m teetering the line of continuing on with my career (which I’m not really sure what that is) or becoming a full-time stay at home mom. I’ve weighed all of the pros against the cons and as I’ve stated before, I’m still in limbo over this. What I have found as of late is that the job market is NOT as bad as the news media makes it out to be, at least not for the upstate of SC.
I have had numerous bites on my resume, opportunities to interview for jobs, and a couple of those opportunities I have actually taken advantage of and I’ve gone in for the interview. Granted the majority of these jobs are within the same career I’m currently in…sales and not an area I want to continue with, but they are still jobs. Each day I hear about the jobless rate and how unemployment is at an all-time high and I can’t understand why when I have so many opportunities for a job. So, I decided to do a bit of research over the past few weeks in order to better ascertain the reasons for high unemployment and here’s the conclusion I’ve come to….Americans are lazy, entitled, ungrateful slobs.
So many are without work because they choose to be and not because they don’t have the choice to have a job. For those individuals, they are doing nothing more than draining the unemployment benefits fund and preventing those that desperately could use the benefits from having that opportunity. We make it much too easy for individuals to stay on unemployment. Once upon a time, there was more accountability within this department of the government, but it’s been allowed to run amuck and every Tom, Dick, and Harry is taking advantage of a system that was created to be assistance in the job search, not a permanent fix. It’s actually pretty sickening the number of people on unemployment who could actually NOT be on it. Of course, the choice is theirs, as it appears our government isn’t interested in really getting people back to work. I propose doing a complete overhaul of the unemployment benefits and perhaps that would help stimulate the economy as opposed to increasing taxes to fund the development of new jobs. People, there are jobs out there! Maybe not the one you want, but when times get tough, you can’t afford to be so choosy, or can you

Be A Mom
Last year this time I was unemployed due to a reduction in force and subsequent elimination of my position. I am now employed not quite doing my dream job but I am employed in a decent job. If you are able I suggest that yes you become a stay at home mom. There are different ways to get a little income if needed. My biggest blessing when I was a child was when my mom quit her job. When I got home from school there was nothing better than seeing her loving face. But whatever you do I wish happiness and joy.
