Where the heck are all the blogs??
By AmpItUp, Monday, January 19, 2009, 1 commentsOne of the strategies I’ve mentioned for driving traffic to your blog was to reach out to other bloggers outside skirt! and comment on their blogs. Some blogs allow you to even put your web or blog address in your comment as a clickable link, which is great, particularly if your comment stays online for a while, because then Google and other search engines count that link back to you as part of your ranking worthiness. The more links back to your blog, the higher it gets listed in Google’s search results.
It makes sense to comment on blogs that have something in common with yours, because then the audience reading that other blog will probably find something useful or interesting (or both!) about yours.
But how can you find blogs that talk about a lot of the same subjects or have the same slant as yours without wading through bunches and bunches of websites that are not blogs?
The answer: blogsearch.google.com. (You knew Google would be the answer, didn’t you?) When you go there, you’ll find top blog categories to the left, but you can enter any search term that you like at the top, and Google will provide a list of blogs that seem to focus on or are related to that term.
Check it out and let me know what you think!
