About Me
More about Me: Novelist, blogger, and in the past, practicing psychotherapist (and now I frequently think I'm the insane person in the room). Single in Manhattan but don't own a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes or hangout at Bungalow 8 like Carrie Bradshaw (although I wouldn't be adverse to either), lover of good jokes, romantic movies, and the frequent shopping excursion for great clothes at bargain prices (where I don't have to fist fight a fellow shopper for a Juicy Couture sweater). I'm the author of "Text Me, A Tale of Love and Technology," which is now available for purchase at Amazon.com in paperback and ebook edition, and "Notes from Ellen Wasserfeldman" due out in the Fall of 2010.
Favorite Music: Most 70s music, Elton John, Beatles, Chicago, ELO, Billy Joel, Chris Botti, Cole Porter, and Broadway show tunes.
Favorite Books and Writers: A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man (James Joyce), At-Swim-Two-Birds (Flann O' Brien), The Unbearable Lightness of Being (Milan Kundera), Jitterbug Perfume (Tom Robbins), Autiobiography of a Fat Bride (and anything else by Laurie Notaro), Pontoon by Garrison Keillor and all the Harry Potter books.
I am most proud of: my ability to remain optimistic and determined through the most difficult of times and my desire to help others achieve their goals.
I am most guilty of: teasing friends and family about the "nonsense television" (what I mercilessly call reality TV) they watch and then becoming secretly addicted to "America's Next Top Model" and WETV's no-frills, low-budget "Most Popular."
The world would be a better place, if only: people would accept each other as individuals. For many, unhappiness stems from living as others would like them to be rather than as who they are.

Interests: In my spare time, I like to write (of course), go to the movies - even if the movie is bad, just to eat the popcorn (so I'm sometimes not sure if I'm a move addict or popcorn addict...hmmm), philosophize and offer non-clinical counseling on dating to my fellow single friends (while I never follow my own advice), and ponder the mystery of missing shoes from my closet (surely the shoes and some of my socks have been sucked into a cosmic wormhole that exists just to make me crazy...).
