By Skirt.com, Wednesday, March 17, 2010I’m thinking about: Changing the world. Really. Not just thinking about it. Doing it.
My passion: My nonprofit, The Bridge CDC. Our mission is to advance lives by reducing socio-economic barriers.
I love: My husband. Without him, I’d be all work and no play. My best bargain find: I bought a pair of loafers when I went to Europe in the 11th grade. I still wear them. I wish I’d known: You’re the only one who has to believe in your dreams. Everyone else will catch on.
I am most proud of: Shop Richmond. Shopping at locally-owned businesses strengthens our infrastructure, reduces our environmental footprint and creates jobs. We’re asking everyone to shop local during Shop Richmond Weekend, March 19-21. Learn more at ShopRVA.org.
Right now I’m reading: God is my CEO by Larry Julian.
I’m inspired by: My grandmother, Maggie Ingram. At a time when women were treated like second-class citizens, she had a singing group, a daycare and a program to help prison inmates reconnect with their families.
My theme song: “Beach Chair” by Jay Z.
Whose diary would you most like to read? Jada Pinkett Smith’s. She’s a successful wife, mother, businesswoman, actress, and rock star who still finds time for hair and a manicure.
I still can’t get the hang of: Double Dutch.
I am guilty of: Eating too much mashed potatoes and roast at my mother’s house on Sundays.
I feel strongest when: Someone tells me I can’t. It’s fuel.
My favorite body part: My waist. It’s small, so even if I eat ten steak burritos, the fat still looks like it’s in the right place.
My favorite possession: My iPhone. It keeps me organized and entertained (Pac-Man!) and plays the soundtrack of my life. When I grow up, I want to be: Remembered for changing the lives of today’s youth. What keeps me awake at night: I believe if you can’t fix it, let it go. So, nothing.
Words I live by: But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. James 1:4
