Carol Kingston Jankowski
By lis2813, Tuesday, February 2, 2010HerStory: Carol Kingston Jankowski, 53, of Pembroke, who is a librarian and jewelry designer.
PRIDE AND JOY: I am supremely proud of my two children, both college graduates, and best of friends. The most joyful part of my life is spent with my delightful 18-month-old grandson Calvin. He is curious, joyful, loving, affectionate and always "in the moment." I am also very proud of my very recent foray into jewelry making.
PERFECT DAY: My perfect day would begin with a great novel, a volume of poetry, my iPod and a beach chair at Long Beach in Plymouth on a hot sunny summer day. After a few hours swimming and sunbathing, I would pick Calvin up and we would walk to a playground and through downtown Plymouth, stopping for lunch. After a few fun hours with him, I'd take a yoga class. When hunger strikes, I'd meet up with friends for Thai food and then head home to my studio to tinker with beads and buttons. Throw in a live music event, and the day is transformed from almost perfect to sublime.
LOOKING FORWARD: I am looking forward to continuing my career as head of circulation and events coordinator at the Duxbury Library. It is extremely gratifying. My vision includes being a more involved grandmother, making more jewelry, traveling the world and teaching yoga on cruise boats. I have also set my intention upon meeting a partner and falling in love again.
PASS IT ON: What I hope to leave behind, and it's not unique, is the notion that love is everything. It begins with paying close attention to and developing a trust in your own divinity, spirit, voice and passions. Fill your well first, so that you have something of value to share. I'm still learning to heed my own advice.
